Toshiba's SD-P1200 is not only portable, but durable, fashioned with a rubberized, "sure grip" design made for travel. The player features a broad, 7-inch widescreen (16:9) active-matrix LCD and a built-in rechargeable battery (good for about 3.5 hours between charges). It handles DVD-Video and DVD-R playback as well as both standard and recordable CDs, including MP3 and JPEG-encoded discs. Storing over 10 hours of MP3 music per disc, you'll be able to travel lighter than ever. And with dual headphone jacks, you can watch or listen with a friend. A handy feature called 3D virtual surround simulates surround sound effects from sources that contain only a two-channel (stereo) soundtrack. There's even an intuitive onscreen display to help you make customized slideshows with just a few simple clicks of the DVD player's remote control. Other features include chapter preview, high-speed smooth-motion scan in forward and reverse, repeat mode, title/chapter search, and skip forward/reverse. Headphones are not included. Comment: Stylish and High Quality! Rating:
I've owned the Toshiba SD-P1200 Portable DVD Player for about 6 months, and I love it! To save you some reading time, I'll just make a Pro/Con list. :)
Pros:
~Pictury Quality is ace! Bright and distinctive.
~Doesn't heat up too much. I once had it running for over 7 hours, and it never got too hot. Usually, it just gets warm. I don't think it's ever been too hot to touch for me.
~Easy to use.
~Rather Sturdy. I'll admit, I've dropped it a couple of times on carpet and it has been lugged around carelessly, yet there is no damage I'm aware of.
Cons:
~For the speakers it has, the sound quality is fine. But I've noticed when a car is on the highway, or you're in an area where there is a lot of noise, it can be hard to hear.
~It DOES NOT come with a car adapter. I had to buy one separately.
~There isn't a fast forward and rewind button on the main unit. These buttons and other specific buttons can only be found on the remote control.
All in all, I'm very happy with the DVD player. :)
Comment: Tested in Iraq Rating:
I am an American Soldier in the US Army Infantry. Our living conditions over here does not support the fragile conditions needed for most DVD players. This does not stop soldiers from buying DVD players, we need them to help keep our sanity.
This DVD player from Toshiba has been with me for 7 months. the only problem I have had with it is the cutoff button than shuts off the screen when you close the screen. That is an easy fix and a minor problem, all you do is pull up on the little button. That is probably why other people in the states say thiers cant't take bumps in the car.
Well I can tell you, I am in charge of an Armored vehicle and in a Bradley it is a very bumpy ride. I have had zero problems with my Toshiba while other guys keep buying cheaper DVD players over and over again. My Toshiba has been thru sandstorms, and keeps running smoothly. It has been in tempertures of over 130 degrees.
I am pleased enough with this product to take the time to write this to say good job Toshiba and thanks for such a durable product. I have seen hundreds of movies on mine and as for the battery, mine lasts up to almost 4 hours. No problems there and I keep my battery connected. I think the problem people are running into is they rely on outlet power and keep the battery connected while using the DVD. I rely on my battery. And charge it when I have electricity.
Anyways if you want a durable DVD player, this is your DVD your looking for.

I have only had it and few months and have used it only a few times and the battery is dead. Obviously this is a manufacturing defect since I have read that many other people have had the same problem.
