Space: The Final Frontier

[Archived in Entry]

[DanGrover.com] After, I looked up the Apollo program on Wikipedia, and I was surprised to see it actually went up to Apollo 17 in the early 1970’s. It’s just amazing to me that all the way back in the 1970’s, which, from what I’ve heard, was a very primitive time, people were walking around on the moon. With the later missions, they actually stayed on the moon for a few days, collected rocks, drove around in a little moon car, etc.

Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.

[From The Earth To The Moon] Saturn V - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: "The Saturn V (popularly known as the Moon Rocket) was a multistage liquid-fuel expendable rocket used by NASA's Apollo and Skylab programs. It was the largest production model of the Saturn family of rockets, although NASA contemplated larger models. The rocket was designed under the direction of Wernher von Braun and Arthur Rudolph at the Marshall Space Flight Center, with the lead contractors being The Boeing Company, North American Aviation, Douglas Aircraft Company, and IBM..."

[Blog with a View] Diana's Boneyard: At the funeral of his sister Diana Princess of Wales (September 6th 1997), Charles, Earl Spencer, in his revolutionary address (the most provocative at a funeral since Mark Antony asked the crowd to lend him ears at Caesar's), referred to her immortal namesake: pointing out the irony that Lady Di was invariably the hunted, not the huntress. Perhaps he was not aware of the further irony -- that the goddess, when she found herself hunted and spied on by Actaeon, turned him into a stag who was then torn to pieces and devoured by his own hounds. Just so was Diana pursued by Actaeons -- with long-range lenses -- but despite being a princess, an icon, a symbol and now seemingly a saint and a martyr, she was not an immortal goddess.

En.wikipedia.orghttp://en.wikipedia.org [En.wikipedia.org] Crew Exploration Vehicle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: However, it is likely that the CEV will follow the service and crewmodule design principle. Instead of the reusable spaceplane used in the space shuttle system, the crew module will be either a capsule similar to the one used in the Apollo, Gemini, Soyuz andShenzhou systems, or a lifting body, similar to the X-38 and Kliper. The CEV will launch on an expendable launch system and carry crew to low Earth orbit, and perhaps more ambitiously in the future to the Moon, Mars, and other destinations.
