R.I.P., Ismail

[transcendental floss] I am so incredibly saddened to learn tonight of the passing of Ismail Merchant. That we’ve seen the end of the great Merchant, James Ivory, Ruth Prawer Jhabvala collaborations, lush, literary, deeply human films like A Room With A View, Howards End, and The Remains of the Day, marks a great loss in the world of cinema.
Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.
[Gulbransen.net] Preaching to the Perverted: Obviously, I am dismayed that Evan felt these changes were necessary to avoid problems in the perception (certainly not the reality) of what blogging means to a practicing attorney. However, I'm not convinced changing the blog is the right solution. It seems to me to be treating the symptom, not the disease. The real treatment should be educating clients and law partners about what blogging is and what it isn't.
[Musicandmeaning.com] musicandmeaning: musings @ musicandmeaning » Goodbye, Ismail Merchant: Forster and deeply influenced my life. The Merchant-Ivory-Jhabvala adaptation of Howards End still ranks as my all-time favorite movie, 12 years after I first saw it. I am sorry that I did not get to meet Mr Merchant to thank him personally, and that I did not write him the letter that I’ve meant to write for years.

[Blogs.indiewire.com] indieWIRE BLOGS > Matt Dentler's Blog: The Sharkboy and Lavagirl premiere will be held at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum in Central Austin. Not only will it be on the museum's IMAX screen, it will be in 3-D and the afterparty will actually be a full-on carnival. This follows in the Austin premiere tradition Robert's films have enjoyed since the original Spy Kids. So yes, folks can buy tickets for a 3-D IMAX premiere with all the carnival rides and food they can handle.
[Kidsisinhollywood.blogspot.com] Kid Sis in Hollywood: Seriously, Michael was like "we're going to have to talk more frequently because I can't talk to you ALL DAY again." We gossiped about everything, including his wild Comicon orgy experiences with costumed superheroes. I'm so boringly straight. I just go to Comicon to buy crap.
