Madagascar

[Archived in Entry]

A Pirate's Journalhttp://www.monkey-pirate.com/blogs/spiff [A Pirate's Journal] Madagascar was an okay movie. You see 50% of the funnies already in the trailers. Not much more to discover in the rest of the movie.

Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.

[the story so far....] 'THE' Phonecall...: HOSTAGE It was okay.. I rate it 7/10 lah.. tapi kalau kamu perasaan anak bini2 yang kononnya anak si... my niece liat Robots.. [Jay's Movie Blog] Family Film Trailers, A Very Long Engagement, and A Series of Unfortunate Events: Pooh's Heffalump Movie - Looks fine for kids up to eight, I guess. It's disappointing to see Disney shut down Feature Animation in favor of an all-CGI approach and then try to fill a gap on the schedule (February Vacation) by blowing something designed for TV up so that it doesn't look good at all.

[Craigbe.typepad.com] Craig's MovieBlog: Trailers: I just found my first "absolutely must-see" of the summer (okay... other than The War of the Worlds and Batman Begins), but suffice it to say, The Island looks fantastic.  Imagine if Michael Bay created The Matrix (or Logan's Run) and you've got it.

Indiescene.net[Indiescene.net] Movie Marketing Blog - Movie Marketing Update: The worldwide "roadblock" will be anchored by the U.S. broadcast debut of the "Chronicles of Narnia" trailer on Saturday, May 7th during ABC's network premiere of "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" (available in over 106 million households) along with online visitors to America Online Web sites (including AOL Welcome Screen, AIM, Moviefone, etc.), and Verizon Wireless V CAST customers. The trailer will also air simultaneously on Disney Channel, and on four channels across the Starz Entertainment Group network. Verizon Wireless customers will also be able to access the trailer through the company's V CAST wireless multimedia service.

[Lookingcloser.blogspot.com] Looking Closer Journal: Having said all of that, let me share something from the blog of my friend Jason Bortz: He writes about taking his seven-year-old son to see Revenge of the Sith, and the boy's reaction is a great illustration of how a child's perception is often far more penetrating and true than our own. While I'm going on and on about how much I loved the special effects, young Bortz gets to the heart of the matter.

http://www.postmodernbarney.com [Postmodernbarney.com] (postmodernbarney.com): It's been too long since I did one of my completely unfair assessments of an upcoming film based on nothing except the trailer. And with the winter movie season coming up, that strange time of year in which all the smarmy, self-important "family" films come out, as well as the usual "this concept will make us lots of money" big-event movies and the "please, give us an Oscar" dramas, it seems like a good time to see what will soon be playing at my local multiplex. If you remember, the way I used to catergorize the films was "Pay Full Price," "Pay Matinee Price," and "See It On Cable." Well, it's probably more fair to just lump all films that I'd be willing to see in a theater together into one category, and mark out those more marginal films that I used to "settle" on matinee viewings as the films I'm willing to at least add to my Netflix queue when they appear on video in the hopes that maybe they're not completely awful. As usual, if I say that I'm "waiting for cable" on a film, add silently the addendum "...if I'm sick and bored and have absolutely nothing else to do that might be marginally more interesting, such as watching paint dry."

http://wejun.blog-city.com [Wejun.blog-city.com] wejun.blog-city.com: the start), Mos Def, Martin Freeman, Marvin the Paranoid Android, the great CGI and narrative sequences with Stephen Fry plus the planet-factory sequence with Bill Nighy. I didn't like: how the President was a stupid fart, how jokes fell lame at times, how they knit the entire story together, the surrealistic madness didn't work. So I guess you can say that it started great for me and gradually spiralled uncontrollably downwards, deep into the abyss of disappointment. I left unsatisfied.
