[a little more life] I had to go see Last Days, not because I idolize Kurt Cobain, though I appreciate the music, but because I knew Van Sant's rich, lingering gaze would allow me to drink in every reflection, every shadow--each intricate crack along the ruined walls of the sprawling wooded estate in which the film is set. I'm a sucker for dampened natural light, and Van Sant appeases me like no other.
