tv blues

shaky on 2004/01/20:

„Some slight noise on some frames, so that’s why I wanted to try out the progressive scan. I know PS only works on NTSC (well, on some you can force it to do PAL too), so I played a few NTSC DVDs and none would let me choose PS output from the DVD player. So that’s one annoyance. DVD engineer coming back next week to test the misreading discs I mentioned.“

What's more fun than blogging?

What's more fun than blogging? Doug Sauder on 2004/01/13:

„But for a Christmas present, I asked for, and got, a DVD collection of the complete season 6 of Friends in Geman. It's PAL video format, and it's Region 2 encoding on the DVD, but with a $50 DVD player permanently set to Region 2, watching the show on a PC is no problem.“

PAL to NTSC DVD Conversion

PAL to NTSC DVD Conversion david on 2003/07/05:

„The first is to remove the region coding, which is easy. However, playing a region-free DVD with PAL video in an NTSC player may not work, so the second thing we're trying to do is to convert the PAL encoded video into NTSC encoded video. That's complicated: not only is the frame rate different (PAL is 25 frames per second, NTSC is 30 frames per second), but the screen size is different (PAL is 720x576, NTSC is 720x480).“
